Open SharePoint document library using Network Places\Mapping a network drive


You can map the network drive to a SharePoint site.

How to connect to other SharePoint sites by using Network Places or by mapping a network drive:
For Windows XP -
To set up Network Places to connect to a SharePoint site, follow these steps:

1. Do one of the following, as appropriate to your situation:
If you are using SharePoint Online in Microsoft Business Productivity Online Standard Suite, in the document library, click Explorer View in the View box.

If you are using SharePoint Online in Microsoft Office 365, in the document library-

1. Click the Library tab, and then in the Connect & Export group in the ribbon, click the Open with Explorer icon.

2.Under Other Places, click My Network Places.

3.Under Network Tasks, click Add a network place. The Add Network Wizard starts.

4.On the Welcome page of the Add Network Place Wizard, click Next.

5.Select Choose another network location, and then click Next.

6.In the Internet or network address box, type the URL of the site that you want to connect to, and
then click Next.

7.Specify a name for the network place, and then select Next.

8.Click to clear the  Open this network place when I click Finish check box, and then click Finish.

9.Return to the document library, and then in the View box, click Explorer View.

10.Select the files that you want to copy, and then click Copy the selected items

11.This displays the My Computer folder tree. Expand My Network Places, and then locate the
Network Place that you want.  Expand again to the document library that you want.  Click Copy.

For Windows Vista and Windows 7
To map a network drive to a
SharePoint site, follow these steps:

1.Right click Computer, and then click Map Network Drive.

2.Click the Connect to a Web site that you can store your documents and pictures link, click
Next, and then click Next.

3.Enter the site URL, click Next, and then follow the instructions in the wizard.
